FIRST US PRIVATE EYE SIMULATION CENTER
There is currently a major shortage of eye care providers worldwide which will peak in 2025. We opened the first US private simulation center in 2023. We foresaw a four-pronged need:
  1. Gap training for ophthalmologists
  2. Gap training for physicians: ER doctors to recent graduates
  3. Sponsoring underrepresented medical students to enter ophthalmology
  4. Physicians in low-income countries (our global call)

“I can’t do it by myself. But I’m doing my part.” -The Legend of the Hummingbird

An international collaboration to make
ophthalmology accessible everywhere

In a pioneering collaborative project between Europe and the United States, we demonstrated the feasibility of remotely guided retinal laser photocoagulation, successfully treating patients with diabetic retinopathy and retinal venous occlusion through specialist real-time guidance.

This technological innovation paves the way for a treatment model capable of overcoming geographical barriers, allowing the training of new doctors and offering specialist treatments even in the most remote areas of the world.

Our goal is to bring this technology to Africa, so that access to ophthalmological care becomes a universal right, not a privilege.
